Nepal and Qatar Sign Eight Agreements to Boost Bilateral Cooperation

On Wednesday, Nepal and Qatar finalized eight significant agreements, marking a crucial step toward enhancing cooperation between the two nations.

The agreements were reached during bilateral talks between Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Delegations from both countries were present during these discussions.

Emir Al Thani’s visit to Nepal began with a courtesy call on President Ram Chandra Paudel on Tuesday. Later, he engaged in a one-on-one meeting with PM Dahal at Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu.

During the delegation meeting, six agreements were signed between ministries, and two agreements were established between the private sectors. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed these signings.

Key agreements included bilateral support agreements between Nepal and Qatar News Agency, as well as between the Office of the Attorney General and the Institute of Foreign Affairs.

Additionally, agreements related to educational and cultural exchanges were signed. Furthermore, there were two agreements between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Later in the afternoon, Prime Minister Dahal will host a lunch for Emir Al Thani at Hotel Dwarika, further strengthening the warm diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Key agreements included:

Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Fields of Culture and Arts between the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation of Nepal and the Ministry of Culture of the State of Qatar.

Agreement on Cooperation and Exchange of News between National News Agency, Nepal (RSS) and Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cooperation in the Field of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar.

Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Youth and Sports between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar.

Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation between the Office of the Attorney General of Nepal and the Public Prosecution of the State of Qatar.

Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Diplomatic Training and Education between The Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) of the Government of Nepal and The Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

Agreement on the establishment of Joint Business Council (JBC) between Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI).

Renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI).

Emir Al Thani’s visit underscores the growing bilateral ties between Nepal and Qatar. President Paudel extended a warm reception upon the Emir’s arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Subsequent bilateral discussions at the Presidential Office in Sheetal Niwas further solidified the cooperative relationship between the two nations.
