Prime Minister Prachanda Plans Visit to South Korea

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has announced his upcoming visit to South Korea while attending a ceremony to bid farewell to a joint Nepali-Korean mountaineering expedition.

The expedition, consisting of three Nepali climbers and seven Korean mountaineers, is set to conquer Mt. Jugal in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Nepal and South Korea.

During the event held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Prachanda handed over the Nepali national flag to the expedition team led by renowned Korean mountaineer Um Hong-gil.

He expressed his well-wishes for the team’s success and highlighted the significance of this endeavor in strengthening the friendly relations between the two nations and promoting the tourism industry.

PM Prachanda also mentioned his recent discussions with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol during the United Nations General Assembly, where President Yoon extended an invitation for him to visit South Korea.

Emphasizing the ongoing preparations for the visit, the Prime Minister affirmed the commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Among the attendees at the ceremony were South Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park Tae-Young, House of Representatives member Madhav Sapkota, Bagmati Province Assembly member Saral Sahayattri Poudel, as well as representatives from the Nepal Mountaineering Association and Nepal Tourism Board.

It’s noteworthy that the government of Nepal had previously decided to open several peaks, including Jugal I and Jugal II, for climbing, further boosting adventure tourism in the region.
