Coinciding with China’s 75th National Day, the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee offered relief materials for the flood victims in Kathmandu Valley.

The event took place at Shree Mahandra Saraswati Sewa Basic School in Kathmandu, with local officials, representatives from major Nepali political parties, and international partners in attendance.

Mr. Wang Xin, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, also participated, highlighting China’s commitment to aiding its neighbors in times of need.

The humanitarian effort comes in the wake of continuous torrential rain that began on September 26, causing severe flooding and landslides throughout the region.

The disaster has claimed more than 200 lives, with many still missing or injured, and has led to significant damage to infrastructure, including collapsed houses, blocked roads, and destroyed bridges. The aftermath has left hundreds of families displaced and in dire need of emergency aid.

In response, the International Department of CPC’s Central Committee launched a swift and coordinated relief initiative, partnering with the China Foundation for Rural Development Nepal office.

Their joint effort, titled “Join Hands to Face the Difficulties and Overcome the Difficulties Together,” focused on providing crucial assistance to the hardest-hit areas in the Kathmandu Valley.

Sixty affected households received emergency family kits and food packages during the event, with many more distributions to follow.

The emergency supplies included essential items such as rice, oil, lentils, and sanitary items, along with practical tools like pressure cookers, mosquito nets, and water dispensers. A total of 1,242 relief kits were prepared and dispatched, with the International Department’s local team overseeing the efficient procurement, transportation, and distribution of these critical resources.

The relief efforts have garnered widespread support from across Nepali society and beyond. Local residents and government officials expressed gratitude for the timely assistance. Compassionate enterprises and individuals have also pledged material and financial aid, eager to help Nepal through this challenging period.

This action underscores the deepening ties between China and Nepal, as well as China’s broader commitment to international solidarity in times of crisis.
