Sunita Baral, Whip of the CPN-UML, represented Nepal at the 2024 Interregional Seminar on the Achievement of the SDGs for Parliaments of Developing Countries, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Beijing.
During the seminar, Baral shared her experiences as a member of Nepal’s Parliament and as a Whip of the party, focusing on the inclusivity of Nepal’s parliament, the participation of women in politics, and the role of youths.

Baral, who serves as a Member of Parliament in Nepal’s lower house, represents the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML). She is also a member of the International Relations and Tourism Committee in Parliament.
Baral is also known for her previous role as the chair of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU).
The seminar, titled “Commemorations of the 40th Anniversary of the National People’s Congress’s Membership to the IPU and the 2024 Interregional Seminar on the Achievement of the SDGs for Parliaments of Developing Countries,” was hosted by Ms. Xin Chunying, Chairperson of the NPC Constitution and Law Committee.

The keynote speaker was Mr. Wang Chao, Vice-chairman of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee. The event aimed to promote peace, stability, and common development among participating nations.

In addition to Baral, the seminar featured MPs from countries including Cambodia, Ethiopia, Laos, Morocco, Nigeria, and Somalia.
