Nepal’s candidate, Ms. Bandana Rana, has been re-elected to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) for another term.

The elections took place during the Meeting of the States Parties to the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women in New York on Thursday.
She obtained 146 votes. Ms. Rana was also one of the eleven candidates elected for the term of 2021-2024.

Notably, she is the first Nepali national to serve on the Committee. Her re-election is a recognition of her expertise and experience, and it reflects Nepal’s sincere efforts in implementing the Convention and promoting women’s rights.
