On World Environment Day, President Ramchandra Paudel emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation to address climate change. He highlighted the rapid changes occurring in glaciers and glacial lakes due to the growing impacts of global warming.
These changes pose challenges to lives and livelihoods, leading to flash floods and landslides in downstream areas. President Paudel stressed that Nepal, like other countries, faces crises caused by climate change, pollution, and loss of biodiversity.
He called for collective efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate-related problems. The President Climate Change Management Programme aims to enhance adaptive capacity and reduce negative impacts.
During the event, President Paudel planted a sapling of ‘palas’ on the President’s building premises, symbolizing environmental commitment.
Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha, and other dignitaries also participated in the tree-planting initiative.
