EU Ambassador to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, recently announced that the ‘EU-Nepal Trade Forum’ is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu next week.
The primary objective of this forum is to attract European investment to Nepal. During a reception held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the European Union, Ambassador Lorenzo emphasized the importance of addressing Nepal’s foreign investment deficit.
The second meeting of the EU-Nepal Trade Forum will convene in Kathmandu on May 15-16.
This gathering aims to facilitate discussions between companies from EU member states and Nepali businesses regarding potential investment opportunities in Nepal.
The forum will explore various sectors in Nepal that are ripe for investment. By bringing together European investors and Nepali entrepreneurs, the event seeks to identify mutually beneficial projects.
Nepal has set ambitious goals, including upgrading from the list of least developed countries by 2026. To achieve this, creating economic development and employment opportunities is crucial.
The EU’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s growth underscores the importance of private sector-led sustainable economic development.
Through joint investments and collaboration, both parties hope to strengthen trade ties and contribute to Nepal’s prosperity.
