U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson Visits Lumbini, Birthplace of Gautama Buddha

Ambassador Dean R. Thompson, the United States Ambassador to Nepal, recently visited Lumbini, the sacred birthplace of Gautama Buddha.

His visit was significant as he attended the signing ceremony for the first 400 kV power substation of MCA-Nepal in the Nawalparasi district of Lumbini Province.

During his trip, Ambassador Thompson received a warm welcome from Sanuraja Shakya, the Member Secretary of the Lumbini Development Fund. Together with the team, he explored several important sites in Lumbini, including Shanti Deep, the Mayadevi temple, Pushkarini Pond, and the historic Ashoka Pillar.

Dr. Haridhwaj Rai, the Public Relations Officer of the Fund, provided Ambassador Thompson with valuable insights about Lumbini’s rich history and its significance as the birthplace of Buddha.
