President Ramchandra Paudel graciously hosted a state banquet on Tuesday in honor of the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is currently on a two-day state visit to Kathmandu.

The banquet featured captivating cultural performances. Earlier on Tuesday, President Paudel and the Emir of Qatar engaged in bilateral talks at the Office of the President in Shital Niwas. Additionally, delegations from both nations are scheduled to hold further bilateral meetings on Wednesday.

During this visit, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his commitment to supporting the release of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who was abducted by Hamas militants in Israel last October. President Poudel urged the Emir to actively contribute to Bipin Joshi’s release, considering Qatar’s role in mediating a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.

Kiran Pokharel, President Paudel’s advisor, stated, “The President’s call for increased efforts toward Bipin’s release has received assurance from the Qatar Emir. Qatar’s previous engagement in dialogue with Israel and Hamas regarding Bipin’s search and release has raised our expectations for more concrete actions.”

In response to the President’s appeal, the Qatari King has pledged additional support for Bipin’s safe return.

The tragic Hamas attack in the Israel-Gaza border area on October 7, 2023, resulted in the loss of ten Nepali students’ lives and left four others injured.

Bipin remains under Hamas control, and his current condition remains uncertain. The attack also claimed the lives of 1,200 civilians from various countries, including Israel.
