Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged diplomatic missions and development partners in Nepal to play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the upcoming investment summit scheduled for April 28-29.

During a meeting with representatives from Nepal-based diplomatic missions and development partners at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Prime Minister Prachanda emphasized the importance of establishing Nepal as an attractive investment destination.

He highlighted the crucial role of development partners, bilateral and multilateral institutions, and diplomatic missions in fostering an environment conducive to investment.

The Prime Minister underscored the government’s commitment to amending laws, implementing procedural reforms, and creating a supportive atmosphere for investors throughout the project lifecycle.

The Nepal Investment Summit 2024 aims to transcend its previous iterations by focusing on bolstering private investment, including Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

It seeks to showcase Nepal’s improved investment climate, driven by legal, regulatory, and procedural reforms aimed at instilling investor confidence. The summit aims to highlight investment opportunities across various sectors and facilitate networking between domestic and international stakeholders.

In contrast to previous summits, the 2024 edition emphasizes the importance of domestic investors, non-resident Nepalis, and foreign investors alike in stimulating economic development.

The government has taken proactive measures, including amending laws essential for attracting and retaining foreign investment, to create an environment conducive to sustained growth.

The upcoming summit builds upon the progress made in previous editions, particularly the 2019 summit, which saw significant legislative initiatives to address concerns regarding business regulations.

Through collaborative efforts with diplomatic missions and development partners, the government is poised to showcase Nepal as an attractive destination for both domestic and foreign investment.
