PM Prachanda Raises Gurkha Soldiers’ Matters with UK Minister

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ welcomed British Minister for Development of Africa Andrew Mitchell to his office in Singha Durbar. They exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral cooperation and mutual interest.

PM Dahal requested the British Minister to encourage British investors to participate in the Investment Summit that Nepal will host in April, as per his Secretariat.

He also hoped that the bilateral mechanism of Nepal and the UK would resolve the issues of the British Gurkha soldiers soon.

The same day, Nepal and the UK signed two grant agreements worth Pound Sterling 70 million (around Rs 11.70 billion) for Green Growth Nepal and Nepal in Business projects.

British Minister Mitchell assured Nepal of continued support for its socio-economic development and close collaboration on climate change issues.

Dr Rupak Sapkota, Foreign Affairs Advisor to PM Dahal, British Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn, and senior officials from both sides were also present at the meeting.
