PM Karki Holds Courtesy Meeting With Israeli Ambassador

Prime Minister Sushila Karki received a courtesy call from Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Shmulik Arie Bass on Sunday.

The meeting took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

During the meeting, Ambassador Bass congratulated Prime Minister Karki for making history as Nepal’s first woman Chief Justice and first woman Prime Minister, and extended best wishes for her tenure.

Prime Minister Karki thanked the ambassador and expressed satisfaction that Nepal–Israel friendly relations have completed 65 years. She said efforts should continue from both sides to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.

Ambassador Bass also said relations between Nepal and Israel remain cordial and reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to further strengthening ties. He thanked the Nepal government for approving the labour migration agreement and its implementation protocols between the two countries, stating that the move has provided a legal basis for employment opportunities for Nepali workers in Israel.

Prime Minister Karki thanked the Israeli government for providing employment opportunities to Nepali citizens and informed the ambassador that the current government’s top priority is the election of the House of Representatives. She said the government is committed to holding the election in a peaceful manner.

Both sides also stressed the importance of initiating additional meaningful activities to mark the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Israel.
