On Tuesday, agreements for technical and financial cooperation for a total of 56 million euros were signed between Germany and Nepal.
The agreement was signed on behalf of their respective governments by German Ambassador to Nepal Thomas Prinz and Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Shreekrishna Nepal, according to a statement from the German Embassy in Kathmandu.
The funding was the amount that the embassy said was promised in 2022.

According to the statement, the financial cooperation agreement would help the public and private sectors develop solar energy, extend energy transmission lines, advance gender equality, and enhance maternal care and childcare in Nepal’s rural districts.
Similarly, the technical cooperation agreement centers on assisting the European Union, Finland, and Nepal in promoting social inclusion, gender equality, and local and provincial economic growth, particularly in western Nepal.
According to the embassy, the agreement will help Nepal’s health sector plan, enhance quality infrastructure for sustainable economic development, and boost renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Germany, according to the embassy, has continuously supported Nepal’s development initiatives in a variety of ways over the years. It also added that Germany actively contributes to the areas of energy, health, and good governance in addition to helping Nepal achieve its sustainable development goals.
“With this grant, the German government hopes to strengthen its commitment and carry on providing important support to the people of Nepal,” the statement said.
During the occasion, the ambassador expressed how much Germany values its connection with Nepal.
Germany has historically supported Nepal’s energy and hydroelectric projects, among other things. We hope to contribute to its ongoing development and prosperity via cooperation and assistance,” stated Ambassador Prinz.
