Nepal Condemns Terrorist Attack in Jammu and Kashmir

Nepal strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 28 people, including one Nepali.

The attack, which took place on Tuesday, also left 12 people injured, some in critical condition. ‘The Resistance Front’ claimed responsibility for the attack. It is considered one of the deadliest since the 2019 Pulwama attack.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli condemned the brutal terrorist attack on the social media platform X. He expressed deep condolences to those who lost their lives in the attack. PM Oli wrote, “In this moment of sorrow, the Government of Nepal stands firmly with the Government of India. The Government of Nepal condemns all forms and manifestations of terrorism.”

Prime Minister Oli also stated that the government is closely coordinating with the relevant authorities to verify reports that a Nepali citizen was among the victims. He assured that the government would provide all possible assistance.

Similarly, in a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep condolences to the grieving families and wished for the swift recovery of the injured. The statement read, “Nepal clearly condemns the brutal terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.”

Nepal expressed strong solidarity with the government and people of India during this time of grief. Consistent with its principled stance, Nepal condemned all forms of terrorism and made it clear that such heinous acts can never be justified under any circumstances.

Leaders from around the world, including those from the United States and the United Kingdom, also condemned the attack. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortened his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Delhi.
