Legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, regarded as one of the greatest of all time, has been spending quality time in Nepal.
Buffon arrived along with his wife, Ilaria D’Amico, on Sunday as the chief guest for the KP Oli Cup final on Monday.
The final match to be held at the Dashrath Stadium on Monday will pit Tribhuvan Army Club against Machhindra Club. The host, the National Youth Association, has brought Buffon to Kathmandu as a guest.
Buffon said that he had dreamed of coming to Nepal since childhood, and now that dream has been fulfilled.
While he presented himself very well and said that today is a special day for him, he cleared some of the curiosity of the media and also said that he is excited to see the final of the KP Oli Cup on Monday.

Buffon played in five consecutive World Cups from 1998 to 2014. He also won the Golden Glove award at the World Cup in 2006.
Buffon, who made his international football debut in 1997, retired in 2018. Similarly, he retired from professional football in 2023.
The 47-year-old Buffon has played 176 matches for Italy and played a key role in Italy’s victory in the 2006 World Cup.
Buffon was selected as the best goalkeeper of the tournament when Italy defeated France to win the World Cup in 2006. He has represented Italy in 176 international matches.
