President Poudel expressed confidence in the deepening and expansion of Nepal-US ties in the coming years. Similarly, Prime Minister Oli highlighted his enthusiasm for working together to further enhance the partnership between the two nations.
Prime Minister Oli tweeted: “Congratulations to H.E. Mr. Donald J. Trump on assuming office as the 47th President of the USA. Best wishes for a successful tenure. Nepal and the US share 75+ years of warm ties, and I look forward to working together to further strengthen our partnership. @realDonaldTrump”
President Trump took the oath of office for a second term in a grand ceremony at the Capitol on Monday. In his inaugural address, he declared that a “golden age” has begun in the United States, saying, “The future is ours. Our golden age has just begun.”
Meanwhile, Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Arzu Rana Deuba, congratulated Marco Rubio on being confirmed as the 72nd Secretary of State under the Trump administration.
President Poudel took to social media to express his congratulations, stating: “My warm felicitations to Marco Rubio as the 72nd Secretary of State under the Trump Administration and my best wishes for the successful tenure.”
Foreign Minister Deuba echoed her sentiments, emphasizing her willingness to collaborate with Secretary Rubio to strengthen diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States.
Rubio, a senator from Florida, was confirmed unanimously with a historic 99-0 vote during the first session of the 119th Congress on Monday. International media describe him as a key member of President Trump’s Cabinet.
