Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has highlighted on the need of constructive role of the member-states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to make it active.
The PM made it a point that as the current chair of the regional body, Nepal has been taking initiating to enliven SAARC.
PM Oli said this during a courtesy call on him by Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi.
During the meeting, the discussion dwelt on issues of bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan and on boosting cooperation on issues including trade, tourism, agriculture, renewable energy, disaster management, education and culture, according to the PM’s secretariat.
Stating that there should be no adverse impact on regional organisations like SAARC even if there is any problem between any two countries, Prime Minister Oli said Nepal has been expanding its relation and collaborating with other nations keeping the justified national interests in mind from the position of expanding and collaborating for the position of sovereign and independent country.
Similarly, the Pakistani Ambassador said they were ready to host SAARC Summit in Pakistan. He shared that Pakistan was willing to expand further cooperation with Nepal on various issues in the days ahead.
On the occasion, Ambassador Hashmi shared that Pakistan was ready to host SAARC Summit and willing to increase cooperation with Nepal on various issues and areas in the days to come.
