Foreign Minister Rana Meets Chinese Counterpart Wang Yi in Chengdu

Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday in Chengdu, China, as part of her official visit.

The visit follows an invitation from Wang Yi and aims to enhance bilateral relations and prepare for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s forthcoming visit to China.

During the discussions, both leaders exchanged views on strengthening Nepal-China ties and coordinated plans for the Prime Minister’s visit. The talks were described as warm and cordial.

On social media platform X, Dr. Rana shared:
“Held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, this evening in Chengdu. We exchanged views on various aspects of Nepal-China relations and discussed preparations for the upcoming official visit of Rt. Hon. K.P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal. The meeting was held in a very warm and cordial environment.”

Dr. Rana who arrived in Chengdu on Thursday, was received by Li Huqiang, Deputy Director General of Sichuan Province’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nepali Ambassador to China, Dr. Krushna Prasad Oli, upon her arrival.

Minister Rana is set to return to Kathmandu on November 30.
