CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, ‘Prachanda’, has expressed Nepal’s keen interest in learning from China’s development trajectory during a meeting with a visiting delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) at his residence in Khumaltar on Saturday.
He highlighted China’s achievements as a valuable model for Nepal.
Chairman Prachanda extended his gratitude to the Chinese government, the CPC, and General Secretary Xi Jinping for their support in Nepal’s development.

Reflecting on his 2019 visit to China, which he described as historic, Prachanda emphasized the importance of implementing the agreements reached during that visit and other high-level interactions between the two nations.
Recalling that he was the first Prime Minister of Nepal to visit China after the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and again during his tenure last year, Prachanda noted, “During my visit last year, we signed several MoUs and issued a joint statement of historic significance. We are determined to ensure that all these understandings are implemented.”
Despite fluctuations in Nepal’s internal politics, Prachanda reaffirmed his commitment to executing the agreements made with China. He stressed the importance of advancing infrastructure projects, especially utilizing science and technology to overcome the geographical challenges between the two countries.
Prachanda also called for Chinese cooperation in areas such as border management, railway construction, air service improvements, education, and health.
The Chinese delegation was led by Chen Gang, a member of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Qinghai Province. Chen expressed a desire to further strengthen the friendship between China and Nepal, highlighting that Nepal could benefit from China’s development, which is entering a new phase.
He also emphasized China’s non-interference policy in the internal affairs of other countries, while underscoring the importance of maintaining strong party-to-party relations.
The meeting was attended by senior Maoist Center leaders, including Senior Vice President Narayankaji Shrestha, Vice President Pampha Bhusal, and Deputy General Secretaries Janardan Sharma and Shaktibahadur Basnet. The Chinese side included Chen Gang and the Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song.
A high-level delegation from the International Department of the CPC (IDCPC) and the CPC Qinghai Provincial Committee arrived in Nepal for political discussions.
On October 20th, the delegation will co-host a briefing on the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee at the Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu.
The theme of the event is “Sharing the Opportunities Brought by Chinese Modernization and Deepening Trans-Himalaya Cooperation,” and it will be attended by leaders from Nepal’s major political parties.
The outcomes of the 3rd Plenary Session are expected to have significant implications for China and its neighboring countries, including Nepal, and aim to enhance both domestic welfare and international cooperation.
This visit highlights China’s commitment to deepening its comprehensive partnership with Nepal, fostering mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.
