Gautam Buddha Int’l Airport and Pokhara Int’l Airport to be Operated

The government has approved an action plan for the overall improvement, operation and management of the civil aviation sector of Nepal.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers on August 12 took a decision to this effect.

Speaking at a press conference organised to make the Cabinet decisions public on Tuesday, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the government approved the action plan of the civil aviation sector to operate and manage the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) and Pokhara International Airport (PIA).

Minister Gurung said that the government accepted the resignations tendered by two Joint Secretaries of the Nepal government. Joint Secretaries Indu Bikram Joshi and Komal Prasad Dhamala tendered their resignations.

Minister Gurung said that the government gave authority to form a dialogue team led by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance to accept the concessional loan of Rs. 14.64 billion and Rs. 1.99 billion as a grant to be provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to implement the irrigation-related projects.

Likewise, the government appointed Ramesh Acharya of Dhading district as general manager of the Food Management and Trading Company (FMTC) Limited, and Prakash Prasad Pokhrel as general manager of the Nepal Transit and Warehousing Co. Ltd.

The Cabinet meeting also endorsed the visit of Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya to Bhutan to participate in the 12th meeting of the Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBOSA) that kicked off from August 13 to 17.

Further, the Cabinet meeting appointed Dr. Rewati Raman Paudel of Chitwan, Dr. Yamuna Ghale, Chitwan, Dr. Reshma Shrestha, Kathmandu, and Jagat Bahadur Deuja members in the Federal Land Use Council. The Federal Land Use Council consists of 13 members.

The meeting also decided to give permission to use the 0-19-0 bigha land of Nawarajpur Rural Municipality-4 of Siraha, which is registered in the name of the government, to the Area Police Office, Jhanjhapatti.
