Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ attended the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Indian Presidential Palace on Sunday.

President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third term. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizu, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.

Following the ceremony, Prime Minister Prachanda had a brief meeting with Prime Minister Modi, as confirmed by the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi. Prachanda extended an invitation to Modi to visit Nepal.
The event saw the presence of leaders from various Indian political parties and other prominent personalities. Newly appointed ministers of India also took their oaths of office and secrecy during the ceremony.

Narendra Modi has become the second Indian Prime Minister, after Jawaharlal Nehru, to secure a third term. His Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had previously won significant victories in the 2014 and 2019 elections, did not achieve an outright majority in the most recent national election.
Accompanying Prachanda on his visit were his daughter and private secretary Ganga Dahal, Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Padam Giri, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, and other senior government officials. He is scheduled to return to Nepal today.
