China Grants Free Visas to Nepali Nationals Starting May 1

More From Author

In a significant move, China has announced that it will grant free visas to Nepali nationals who wish to visit China.

This decision comes as a gesture of reciprocity, given that Nepal has been offering free visas to Chinese tourists for some time.

Foreign Minister of Nepal, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, played a pivotal role in this development.

During his recent visit to China, Minister Shrestha engaged in several high-level meetings aimed at strengthening economic diplomacy between the two nations. One of his key requests was to exempt visa fees for Nepalese citizens.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, posted a notice on his official account, outlining the new policy. The notice reads:
To promote friendship and facilitate personnel exchange between China and Nepal, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal will waive Chinese visa fees for Nepali citizens starting from May 1, 2024. However, it’s important to note that express fees and service charges will still apply. Visa applications submitted before this date will be subject to the previous fee structure.

This move is expected to enhance people-to-people ties and foster closer relations between the two neighboring countries. Travelers from Nepal can now explore China without the burden of visa fees, making cross-cultural exchanges more accessible and seamless.
