The US Chamber of Commerce delegation is set to participate in the Investment Summit scheduled to take place in Nepal on April 28-29.

During a meeting at the Ministry of Finance on Monday, US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean Thompson, informed Minister of Finance Barshaman Pun about their participation.

The discussion covered various topics, including timely project completion in Nepal with U.S. support. The American envoy expressed commitment to ensuring the success of the Investment Summit.

Minister Pun highlighted preparations for legal and procedural reforms to create an investment-friendly environment. He also emphasized the positive investment climate in Nepal, anticipating increased participation from American investors.

The efforts to improve Nepal’s Sovereign Credit Rating were discussed, with the government working through the international credit rating organization Fitch.

The risk of Nepal being blacklisted by the Financial Action Taskforce has been mitigated, thanks to the endorsement of bills related to Anti Money Laundering and Business Environment Promotion by both Houses of Parliament.

The bill, amending provisions in 19 different laws related to money laundering, is currently awaiting authentication by the President.
