The British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane at the Ministry of Home Affairs, on Thursday.
During their meeting, Ambassador Fenn extended warm congratulations to Home Minister Lamichhane, expressing sincere wishes for a successful tenure. The encounter served as a platform to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Nepal and Britain, particularly in areas of mutual interest.
Home Minister Lamichhane conveyed profound appreciation for Britain’s multifaceted support in various developmental endeavors. He highlighted the UK’s role in infrastructure development, social upliftment, capacity building, disaster management, and the recruitment of Gurkha soldiers. The importance of continued collaboration in these sectors was underscored.
Minister Lamichhane emphasized the need for enhanced coordination with the British government in vital areas such as democracy strengthening, climate adaptation, social inclusion, combating discrimination, and poverty alleviation.
Recognizing the invaluable contribution of Gurkha soldiers, Minister Lamichhane expressed confidence in the British government’s commitment to addressing their concerns equitably.
In response, Ambassador Fenn assured the Home Minister of Britain’s support in Nepal’s reconstruction efforts following the Jajarkot earthquake. He disclosed that the British government is actively formulating a comprehensive plan for Nepal’s development and construction partnership.
This initiative is expected to strengthen bilateral ties and foster sustainable growth.
