The Japanese government has handed over medical equipment to the Kathmandu Cancer Center (KCC) in Changunarayan Municipality, Bhaktapur on Tuesday. The handover ceremony took place at the hospital premises, with Ambassador Kikuta Yutaka, Japan’s Ambassador to Nepal, in attendance.
Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), the Project for the Installation of Medical Equipment at the Kathmandu Cancer Center in Bhaktapur District received support amounting to USD 74,033 (approximately NPR 8.75 million).
This project equipped KCC’s operating room with a camera, monitor-equipped operating lights, and a high-performance operating table that can be adjusted according to the needs of surgical procedures. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of medical services provided by KCC.
Ambassador Kikuta expressed his appreciation for the efforts of everyone involved in the project and highlighted how it enables the delivery of higher-quality medical care. He also expressed hope that the equipment would greatly benefit patients and their families while contributing to the development of local medical services.
KCC, established in 2016, is a specialized cancer hospital in Changunarayan Municipality. Despite providing consultations and treatment to cancer patients, the hospital faced limitations in performing complex surgeries due to a lack of medical equipment.
The Embassy anticipates that this project will enhance the response to the growing demand for improved medical services within the community and further strengthen the friendship between Japan and Nepal.
