The 9th Edition of the Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament concluded today with an exhilarating closing ceremony and prize distribution. The tournament, which commenced on March 2, 2024, featured twelve teams representing various clubs, culminating in an electrifying display of cricketing prowess and camaraderie.

Amidst a gathering of sports enthusiasts, journalists, and distinguished guests, the Cricket Excellence Centre Kathmandu emerged as the champions, clinching the prestigious trophy.

Meanwhile, Lee Cricket showcased exceptional skills throughout the tournament, securing the runner-up position.

Notable guests at the ceremony included Mr. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General of SAARC, Ms. Noha Hamdy Ahmed Elgebaly, Ambassador of Egypt to Nepal, Mr. Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, and Mr. Xie Yu, Economic & Commercial Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.

Their presence underscored the significance of the event, emphasizing the bonds of friendship between nations through the spirit of sportsmanship.

In his address to the gathering, Honourable Mr. Shiva Koirala lauded the Pakistan Embassy’s initiative in successfully organizing the tournament.

He highlighted the event’s pivotal role in strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan, expressing gratitude for integrating it into Kathmandu’s sporting calendar.

Ambassador H.E. Abrar H. Hashmi extended warm congratulations to the winning teams and commended the organizers for orchestrating a memorable tournament.

He emphasized the tournament’s contribution to nurturing emerging cricket talent in Nepal and reaffirmed the commitment to fostering bilateral ties through future sporting events.
