Bharatpur Metropolitan City’s Mayor, Renu Dahal, was bestowed with the International Mayor Award 2024 during a distinguished ceremony at The House of Commons in London, UK.
The event, held on Thursday night and graced by Mayor of London Sadik Khan, recognized Mayor Dahal’s outstanding achievements under the Political and Public Life Award category.
Mayor Dahal’s commendable efforts towards the development of Bharatpur Metropolis earned her this prestigious accolade. The award ceremony, jointly organized by the Economic Policy Group and British Parliament Member Valerie Vaz, showcased Mayor Dahal’s significant contributions.
Mayor Khan, while presenting the award to Mayor Dahal, himself received recognition with a local government award. The event also saw Amina Gurib Fakim, the first female president of Mauritius, honored with the International Woman of the Year Award.
In addition to the awards, Mayor Dahal utilized the occasion to extend invitations to UK leaders and officials to visit Bharatpur as part of the Visit Bharatpur Year 2024 initiative.
Earlier, Mayor Dahal had fruitful discussions with Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans and Conservative MP Dean Russell, further enhancing bilateral ties and opportunities for collaboration.
Expressing gratitude upon receiving the prestigious award, Mayor Dahal vowed to redouble her efforts in serving the residents of Bharatpur and the nation at large.
She credited the organizers for acknowledging her work and expressed renewed commitment to her civic responsibilities.
Renowned UK-based Nepali entrepreneur Rabindra Jung Lamichhane facilitated Mayor Dahal during the event.
