On Thursday, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav participated in a reception held to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the independence and national day of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The event took place in Kathmandu, where dignitaries from various sectors gathered to celebrate the occasion.

Among the attendees were heads and office-bearers of constitutional bodies, chiefs of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu, senior government officials, Bangladeshi citizens residing in the city, members of the business community, and representatives from the media.

The reception was graciously hosted by Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, the ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal.

In his welcoming address, Ambassador Chowdhury highlighted Bangladesh’s remarkable progress over the past five decades. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the country has been steadily advancing toward becoming a middle-income nation.

He emphasized the deep engagement between Bangladesh and Nepal across bilateral, regional, and multilateral platforms. These interactions aim to foster cooperation in areas such as trade, tourism, education, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people connections.

Reflecting on the strong ties between the two nations, Ambassador Chowdhury mentioned the exchange of presidential visits and the signing of four key agreements related to trade, tourism, connectivity, and cultural cooperation. Looking ahead, he announced that foreign secretary and commerce secretary level talks are scheduled for next month. These discussions will further strengthen the institutional linkages between Bangladesh and Nepal.

In closing, the ambassador expressed confidence in working collaboratively with Nepalese friends to enhance bilateral relations in the years to come.
