On Friday, a Nepali parliamentary delegation led by Chairman Raj Kishor Yadav held a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, where discussions centered around deepening cooperation and strengthening ties between the two countries.

Dr. Jaishankar commended the delegation for their broad-based support for enhanced cooperation between Nepal and India.

The visiting parliamentary team, consisting of members from the Parliamentary Committee on International Relations and Tourism under the House of Representatives (HoR), is on an official visit to India from January 30 to February 6.

The delegation includes Chairman Yadav and lawmakers Sunita Baral, Chhiring Bahadur Lhamu Lama Tamang, Eakaman Thapaliya, Yogesh Gauchan, Hari Upreti, Shishir Khanal, and Gangaram Chaudhary.

The visit commenced with a warm welcome at Delhi Airport, following an invitation from the Indian Parliamentary Committee. The Joint Secretary and Chief Protocol Officer of the Indian Parliament greeted the Nepalese delegation, underscoring the significance of the visit in fostering bilateral relations.

Key concerns emphasized during the discussions include facilitating the process for Nepali citizens to obtain SIM cards, advocating for reasonable tuition rates in educational institutions to ensure fair competition for Nepali students with their Indian counterparts, and addressing the persistent issue of human trafficking.

The objective of these conversations is to enhance collaboration and address shared challenges for the mutual benefit of both countries.
