US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean Thompson, engaged in discussions with the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balen Shah, during a meeting held on Thursday in Shah’s office.

Various mutual issues were discussed during the meeting, with Mayor Shah proposing a collaborative Information Technology (IT) training program as a joint initiative. The objective is to equip American companies with skilled manpower while providing Nepalese youth opportunities to earn income and develop proficiency for the global job market.

Mayor Shah also highlighted Kathmandu’s involvement in the film genre under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. He expressed the city’s eagerness for the U.S. Embassy’s support in coordinating mutual programs with Hollywood film stakeholders, including producers, directors, actors, and distributors.

Ambassador Thompson responded affirmatively, expressing the U.S. willingness to engage in creative programs and enhance relations across expert, business, social, and civil domains.

The forthcoming investment conference in Nepal, featuring a regional representative from America, emerged as a focal point for discussions regarding potential programs related to the metropolitan city.

During the meeting, Ambassador Thompson invited Mayor Balen Shah to visit the United States, emphasizing the commitment to fostering stronger ties between the two nations.

The discussions concluded with a mutual agreement on the upcoming investment conference, laying the groundwork for collaborative initiatives and fortifying diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States.
