South Korea has recently announced the establishment of three additional sectors specifically aimed at foreign employment, with a focus on Nepali migrant workers.
Traditionally known for job opportunities in agriculture, animal husbandry, manufacturing, and shipbuilding, South Korea’s labor market is now extending its embrace to include Nepalis in the forest, service, and root industry sectors.
The Department of Employment, operating under the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, disclosed this information on Thursday, emphasizing the increased scope for Nepali workers within South Korea.

This expansion underscores South Korea’s ongoing reliance on Nepali labor and acknowledges the valuable contributions made by Nepali migrant workers to the country’s economy.
Effective immediately in 2024, Nepali individuals seeking employment in South Korea can explore job opportunities in these newly established sectors. This move is expected to provide a wider range of job prospects for Nepali workers, diversifying their options for employment abroad.
The Nepal government received formal communication from Korean authorities regarding this expansion. The EPS Korea Section in Gwarko confirmed South Korea’s intention to welcome more Nepali migrant workers in 2024, signaling a positive outlook for bilateral labor cooperation between the two nations.
The creation of these new sectors not only demonstrates South Korea’s commitment to strengthening its labor force, but also represents a mutually beneficial arrangement that fosters economic ties and enhances opportunities for Nepali migrant workers seeking employment overseas.
