After Rabi Lamichhane, FM Khanal Departs for India

Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has departed for New Delhi, India for an official visit.

He departed for India today at the invitation of Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

Talking to media persons before departing for New Delhi, Foreign Minister Khanal said that this is the first high-level visit since the formation of the RSP government and discussions will be held focusing on the country’s priority issues. This visit is part of the regular exchange of high-level visits between Nepal and India. It is believed that this visit will further strengthen the historical and multifaceted bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had made public the schedule of Minister Khanal’s official visit to India by issuing a press release on Thursday. During the visit, Foreign Minister Khanal will hold an official bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart Dr. Jaishankar in New Delhi. The ministry stated that the foreign ministers of the two countries will hold in-depth discussions on various issues of mutual interest between Nepal and India on that occasion.

Specifically, the two sides will hold talks focusing on trade, investment, connectivity, energy sector cooperation, and further strengthening and expanding mutual relations between the peoples of the two countries, the press release mentioned. The ministry believes that this visit will be an important link in taking the mutual cooperation and understanding between Nepal and India to new heights.

Foreign Minister Khanal is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on Jestha 24 after completing all his official programs.
