Nepali embassies worldwide marked Constitution Day with various events, celebrating the occasion enthusiastically in Abu Dhabi, Beijing, Cairo, and Copenhagen.

In Abu Dhabi, the Embassy of Nepal organized a special event on Thursday, which began with the national anthem and a tribute to known and unknown martyrs. The gathering was attended by Ambassador Tej Bahadur Kshetri, embassy staff, their families, and representatives from Nepali organizations in the UAE, alongside local Nepalis working in the region.

During the event, Ambassador Kshetri emphasized the collective responsibility to uphold sustainable peace, development, prosperity, and good governance by institutionalizing the rights, values, and democratic principles enshrined in Nepal’s Constitution, which was achieved after significant struggle and sacrifice by the Nepali people.

In Beijing, Acting Ambassador Surendra Kumar Yadav highlighted the importance of the Constitution Day and its role in promoting equality, inclusiveness, and democratic values in Nepal. A vibrant cultural program followed, with Liu Jinsong, Director General of the Asian Affairs Department at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as the chief guest. The event drew around 250 attendees, including diplomats, representatives from international organizations, Chinese entrepreneurs, and media personnel. A flag-raising ceremony was held earlier at the embassy.

The Constitution Day celebration in Cairo featured the presence of Ahmed Shahin, Assistant Secretary of State for Asia-Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand Affairs at Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Deputy Foreign Minister Shahin expressed optimism about the continued growth of cooperation between Nepal and Egypt, particularly in trade, tourism, and education.

Nepal’s Ambassador to Egypt, Sushil Kumar Lamsal, described Nepal’s Constitution as a significant milestone in the nation’s modern history, expressing hope for stronger political, economic, and cultural ties between Nepal and Egypt. Nepali students in Egypt performed a cultural program, and an exhibition of photographs by Egyptian photojournalist Yasser Ala Mubarak, showcasing images from Nepal’s Pashupatinath temple during last year’s Shivratri festival, was displayed.

In Copenhagen, Chief of Mission Savitra Oli recalled the historic struggle that led to the creation of Nepal’s Constitution, noting its role in the institutional development of democracy. She also highlighted the importance of enhancing trade, tourism, and people-to-people relations between Nepal and Denmark. Over 100 attendees, including senior Danish government officials, diplomats, representatives from international organizations, professors, and members of the Nepali diaspora, participated in the event.
