Legendary Climber Kami Rita Sherpa Sets New Record with 29th Mt. Everest Ascent

Early this morning, (Sunday) at 7:25 a.m., Kami Rita Sherpa achieved an incredible feat by successfully summiting Mount Everest for the 29th time. This remarkable accomplishment establishes a new world record for the most ascents of the world’s highest peak.

Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, the Chief Executive Officer at 14 Peaks Expedition, confirmed this historic achievement.

Additionally, Khimlal Gautam, Chief of the Expedition Monitoring and Facilitation Filed Office at the base camp, verified that Kami Rita reached the summit point of Mount Everest, surpassing his own previous record.

Kami Rita, a native of Thame village in Solukhumbu, Nepal, serves as a Senior Guide at 14 Peaks Expedition. His life has been dedicated to mountaineering, and he has become synonymous with the world’s highest peak. Born on January 2, 1970, he developed a deep passion for climbing from a young age and has spent over two decades scaling mountains.

His mountaineering journey began in 1992 when he joined an Everest expedition as a support staff member.

Since then, Kami Rita fearlessly embarked on numerous expeditions, achieving multiple successful summits of Everest. His accomplishments extend beyond Everest, as he has also conquered other formidable peaks, including K2, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Manaslu.
