Ambassador Bharat Raj Paudyal recently presented his Letters of Credence to Mary J. May Simon, the Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada. The special ceremony took place at Rideau Hall in Ottawa on April 30, 20241.
During the audience following the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Paudyal conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Ram Chandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to Governor General Simon.
He expressed well wishes for her personal health and happiness, as well as for the continuous peace, progress, and prosperity of the friendly people of Canada.
Ambassador Paudyal discussed the friendly bilateral relations between Nepal and Canada and shared major priorities of the Nepalese government.
These priorities include consolidating democracy and accelerating economic development efforts. He also highlighted Nepal’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and graduating from the list of least developed countries.
Expressing gratitude for Canada’s continued cooperation, Ambassador Paudyal pledged to work closely with the Canadian government and private sector.
His focus areas include promoting bilateral trade, tourism, investment, and technology transfer. Strengthening people-to-people relations and fostering mutually beneficial economic partnerships were also emphasized.
Governor General Simon expressed her best wishes to Nepal’s leadership and commended the excellent state of bilateral relations. She assured full support from the Canadian government to further strengthen ties between the two nations.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from the Canadian government and embassy staff.
