The Embassy of India in Kathmandu generously donated 35 ambulances and 66 school buses to various organizations across different districts of Nepal.

During the handover ceremony, Naveen Srivastava, the Ambassador of India to Nepal, presented the keys to these vehicles.

The event was graced by the presence of Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun, local representatives, officials from the Government of Nepal, and social workers.

Notably, two ambulances were specifically allocated to the earthquake-affected districts of Jajarkot and West Rukum. The Embassy’s representative handed them over in the presence of district officials and local residents.

This noble initiative is part of a longstanding tradition. For three decades, the Government of India has been gifting ambulances and school buses to various beneficiary organizations in Nepal, emphasizing the crucial sectors of health and education. These gifts align with the spirit of Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations in India.

Ambassador Srivastava emphasized that this initiative reflects the strong Nepal-India Development Partnership.

It aims to bolster Nepal’s infrastructure in health and education, touching lives across the country and contributing to tangible progress.

Finance Minister Pun expressed his appreciation for India’s ongoing developmental projects in Nepal.

He highlighted how these initiatives strengthen bilateral relations and enhance people-to-people connectivity. Undoubtedly, this flagship program benefits the people of Nepal significantly.

Since 1994, India has gifted a total of 1,009 ambulances and 300 school buses to Nepal, further supporting the nation’s health and education facilities.

This continued support underscores the enduring friendship between India and Nepal, fostering progress and well-being.
