Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has apprised the Parliament of the accomplishments from his recent official visit to the People’s Republic of China.

Addressing a session of the House of Representatives (HoR), the lower house of the Federal Parliament, today, he highlighted significant achievements in expanding cooperation through enhanced coordination and collaboration between the two nations.

During the visit, DPM Shrestha extended an invitation to his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, to visit Nepal at a convenient time. Both parties have committed to effectively implementing Nepal-China agreements and regularizing existing mechanisms to expedite cooperation. As a result of this visit, the historic and friendly relations between Nepal and China have scaled new heights.

The discussions held during the visit were comprehensive, focusing on mutual assistance and cooperation. Minister Shrestha expressed hope that the trip further strengthened the centuries-old, multi-dimensional, and friendly relations between the two countries.

Notably, the Chinese side has responded positively to Nepal’s requests. They are supportive of ensuring trans-border pastureland for the Nepali community residing along the Nepal-China border, as per the 2012 agreement.

They have shown interest in resuming the Kathmandu-Lhasa direct bus service, which would facilitate exports of buffalo, medicinal herbs, vegetables, and fruits from Nepal to China.
