Speaker Ghimire Leads 10-Member Parliamentary Team to Switzerland

Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), has embarked on a journey to Switzerland, leading a 10-member parliamentary delegation. Their purpose is to participate in the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Speaker Ghimire is currently en route to Geneva via Doha. The IPU Assembly is scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from March 23 to 27.

Accompanying Speaker Ghimire are prominent figures from various political parties, including; Ramesh Lekhak, Chief Whip of the Nepal Congress; Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, Chief Whip of the UML; Hitraj Pandey, Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre); and, Santosh Pariyar, Chief Whip of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Additionally, the delegation includes Ganga Kumar Belbase, a member of the National Assembly, as well as Yekram Giri, Spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, and other officials.

During the assembly, Speaker Ghimire is slated to deliver a speech on the topic of “Parliamentary Diplomacy: Building Bridges for Peace and Understanding.”

The parliamentary delegation is expected to return home on March 29.
