Today marked a significant milestone in Nepal’s tourism landscape as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ presided over the official declaration of Pokhara as the nation’s tourism capital.

Prime Minister Prachanda reiterated the government’s steadfast commitment to facilitating the growth and enhancement of Pokhara’s infrastructure and amenities to elevate it as a premier destination.

Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, he pledged support, coordination, and cooperation from the government to address existing and potential challenges in Pokhara’s development.

“The government will prioritize initiatives to transform Pokhara into a more aesthetically pleasing, secure, environmentally conscious, well-organized, and developed city,” affirmed Prime Minister Prachanda during the declaration ceremony.

Acknowledging the necessity of international partnerships and private sector investments, PM Prachanda emphasized the forthcoming Investment Summit as a crucial platform to garner support for Pokhara’s infrastructure development.

The announcement program, jointly organized by the Gandaki Province government and Pokhara Metropolitan City, included a vibrant rally featuring diverse cultural processions leading up to the announcement ceremony at the picturesque Barahighat, nestled on the banks of Fewa Lake.

At the heart of this declaration is the unveiling of a tourism capital marker, symbolizing Pokhara’s pivotal role in Nepal’s tourism narrative. To ensure a grand celebration, a central committee, helmed by the Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, was established.
