Foreign Minister Shrestha Receives Congratulatory Memos from India and China

Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava met with Nepal’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha at Singhadurbar today, a day after Shrestha assumed office. The meeting highlighted the significance of bilateral relations between Nepal and India.

Ambassador Srivastava congratulated Minister Shrestha and extended warm wishes for his tenure. The discussions covered various bilateral issues of mutual interest, with representatives from both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian Embassy participating, signaling a collaborative approach to enhancing ties.

Following the expansion of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s Cabinet, the meeting’s timing suggests a concerted effort to bolster diplomatic relations within the region.

Minister Shrestha and other newly appointed ministers formalized their oath of office and secrecy during a ceremony at Sheetal Niwas on Wednesday.

Similarly, Chen Song, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Shrestha at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday. The meeting focused on matters concerning Nepal-China relations and cooperation.

As Minister Shrestha officially assumed his role, he received a warm welcome from the Foreign Secretary and other officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his assumption of office, Minister Shrestha emphasized the importance of diplomatic courtesy for Nepal and highlighted the need for a balanced approach with India and China.
