The inauguration of the first Hindu temple in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was celebrated with great enthusiasm, drawing the participation of Nepalese attendees.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE culminated in the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, situated on a sprawling 27-acre plot generously donated by the UAE government. This monumental temple, constructed using traditional techniques, is a testament to the enduring ties between India and the UAE, further solidifying bilateral relations.

The temple, managed by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, symbolizes the values of faith, service, and global harmony cherished by the Hindu community. Crafted from pink sandstone sourced from Rajasthan and white Italian marble, the temple stands as a majestic architectural marvel, reflecting a budget of 7 billion rupees ($84.2 million).

The inauguration ceremony, attended by thousands, featured vibrant cultural performances, including traditional dances and musical presentations. As Prime Minister Modi toured the temple premises, he expressed profound gratitude for the UAE’s support and emphasized the historic significance of the occasion.

Modi’s visit to the UAE, encompassing engagements with global leaders and addressing the World Governments Summit in Dubai, underscores India’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties.

The warm reception received by Modi highlights the strategic partnership between India and the UAE, characterized by extensive economic collaboration and mutual respect.

Amidst the distinguished attendees, UK Based Nepali entrepreneur Rabindra Jung Lamichhane’s notable presence along with a small Nepali delegation added to the significance of the event.

As the first Nepali personality to sign the historic “House of Commons Nelson Mandela Memorial Book,” Lamichhane’s contributions reflect the spirit of global solidarity and humanitarianism, further enhancing Nepal’s international standing.

In his post on social media platform X, Lamichhane has described the event of temple inauguration in the UAE as a sacred festival of harmony and highlighted its historic significance for Hindus worldwide.
