Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli departed for Thailand on Tuesday on an official visit.
Before departing for Thailand, Prime Minister Oli was accorded a guard of honour by the Nepali Army at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Deputy Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak among other dignitaries were presented at the airport to see him off.
This is the first time that a PM of Nepal is formally visiting Thailand after 65 years of establishing a diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Thailand. A courtesy meeting will be held between PM Oli and the King of Thailand during the visit.
On the sidelines of the Summit, PM Oli is expected to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of BIMSTEC member states. The visit holds significance as Nepal and Thailand have shared diplomatic ties for decades, yet a Nepali Head of Government has never officially visited Thailand.
The last Thai Prime Minister to visit Nepal was Prem Tinsulanonda in 1983.PM Oli’s delegation includes his spouse Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Political Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Chief Secretary Eak Narayan Aryal, former Finance Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, high-ranking officials, as well as representatives from the private sector and media.

The PM will be holding a meeting with well-known businessmen in Thailand and will address the Asian Institute of Technology. PM Oli will address the BIMSTEC summit on April 4.
The Nepali Cabinet endorsed the official visit schedule on March 24, and the Prime Minister is expected to return home on April 5.
